Our Gear

Always striving to lessen our carbon footprint and to support local business, we've sourced much of our best gear from as close to home as possible. Call it the "Hundred Mile Diet for Gear-heads." Buying local means shorter distances travelled, therefore less carbon is being emitted by fossil fuel engines. As well, it keeps us in close contact with our suppliers and keeps business in the community. All of our canoes, PFDs, and paddles are sourced locally.

Canoes

nova-craft-canoe.jpgFor our adventures we've chosen 16ft. Royalex Prospectors from London-based Nova Craft Canoe. Equally at home on calm lakes or flowing rivers, these prospector design boats are a joy to paddle for novice and experienced canoeists alike, and are certainly happiest when fully loaded with a week's worth of gear for one of our Lunatic Adventures in Temagami. Big payload, a dry ride, and made "just down the road," The Nova Craft Prospector is our boat of choice.

PFDs

salus.jpgAlways thinking of safety, we provide all of our guests with top quality PFDs for all paddling adventures. Made by Salus Marine Wear, a proudly Canadian company in Kitchener, our PFDs will keep you safe and are comfortable for a long day's paddle.

Paddles

grey-owl.jpgGet in touch with nature. We only use wooden paddles for our canoeing adventures. Not only is wood a renewable material, wooden paddles feel warm in the hand, connect us to our environment, and are made close by in Cambridge by world famous Grey Owl Paddles using quality cherry, butternut, and basswood. We've chosen the Grey Owl Voyageur as our beefy, all round paddle, strong enough for the river, long enough for the lake, and wide enough to still get purchase in the shallows.
