Where:

Category:

Description

All the fun of our regular half-day Grand River canoe trip now offered at night! There's no better way to experience the Grand River, than under a blanket of stars. And who says fire and water don't mix? Provided with tiki torches for the boats, we'll launch in the fading sun to watch the river transform as we paddle into the night. From Glen Morris to Paris we'll paddle a 12km stretch of river, learn about its cultural and natural history, play a few canoe games. Then let the river do the work while we break from paddling to lie back and gaze at the night sky or raft-up for an astronomy talk. No matter where your interest lies, Paddle the Grand is sure to be an educational experience for all outdoor enthusiasts.

Designated as a Canadian Heritage River, the Grand has always been an important feature of Southern Ontario's history and landscape. As it winds its way along its 290 kilometer course, the Grand River and its tributaries drain the largest watershed in this part of the province. The area is home to a great diversity of plant and animal life, including many Carolinian species which flourish here. For our trips we have chosen a stretch that passes through the spectacular Grand River Forest between Cambridge and Paris; perfect for beginner and intermediate canoe enthusiasts and sure to be an educational experience for everyone.
